$10,000 REWARD

To anyone who can find one verse in the Bible that says,

ask Jesus into your heart
OR
that suicide is an unforgivable sin.

The expression to ask Jesus into your heart comes from a song, not the Bible. The Bible says the moment a person trusts Christ alone for salvation, He does come in,1 so why ask? The one and only condition to have eternal life is to believe in Jesus Christ. Since asking and believing don’t mean the same thing, it would be impossible for a person to go to heaven by asking.

Many people look at suicide as an unforgivable sin because it is the only sin for which you can’t ask forgiveness. But asking for forgiveness is never given as a requirement to enter heaven. The forgiveness required to enter heaven is received upon believing, not asking.2 And once a person has received that forgiveness he will never face hell for his sins. Jesus promised, “…the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.”3 The Lord Jesus died for all sins and that would include suicide. The believer’s actions affect the amount of rewards he will receive in heaven,4 not the fact he will go there.
